Sealing Machines: RHO I

Sealing of membranes to lid-rings

Technology:

  • Pressure and heat are used to seal a membrane to a metal lid-ring.
  • This makes for a hermetically tight and extremely reliable seal to allow sterilizeable closures.
  • Modular system with turret principle
  • The flexible modular system can be adapted to different technological operations and output requirements
  • The machine is available in versions with 1 or 2 lanes for membrane coil.
  • Optimized material utilisation of the membrane coil according to the lid-ring size.(less scrap)
  • Two membranes are cut out in a single stroke from the membrane coil.
  • Both high output and high quality.
  • In the first module the membranes are cut out and transferred to the turret for pre-sealing.
  • An hermetically tight and extremely reliable seal is created by long sealing times.
  • In the second module final sealing takes place with more than 0.5 seconds pure sealing time. More than 230° of the turret rotation is available for sealing.
  • In the third module the membranes are embossed.
  • Prior to embossing, the stay-on tab is folded down facing inwards and embossed at the same time.
  • The sealing pressure and sealing temperature can be set individually for each station.
  • Each sealing tool is fitted with two automatically controlled heating systems
    - one at the top and one at the bottom.
  • If a sealing tool is too hot or not hot enough, this station is deactivated during production and left empty. (No membrane is cut out and no lid-ring is placed to this station)
  • The transport of the membrane coil and scap skeleton is carried out by servo drives.
  • The machine is suitable for processing different sealable materials, e.g. laminated aluminium-foil, plastic.
  • In each working station in all modules, compound tool-sets are used for a quick change of the dies:
    • for membrane cutting,
    • for pre-sealing,
    • for final sealing,
    • for embossing.
  • An entire format change can be carried out in less than two hours.
  • Very little maintenance is required thanks to the high-quality components used.
