Sealing Machines: RHO II

Sealing of cardboard bottoms/lids
to cardboard cans

Technology:

  • Pressure and heat are used to seal the inside and outside of the cardboard-can to the cardboard bottom/lid. This makes for an hermetically tight and extremely reliable seal.
  • The cardboard bottoms/lids can be sealed to empty or filled cardboard cans.
  • The working principle for round and non-round cardboard cans is identical.
  • The cans are carefully transported.
  • The cans are spaced by a driven dosing-star with its own monitoring unit and an infeed-worm to match the tool stations.
  • Using the turret principle long sealing-times are reached.
  • A distance of more than 180° of the girth is available for sealing.
  • The sealing operations are independent to linear cycle-times.
  • 4, 8 or 12 sealing stations/module.
  • Longitudinal stacking magazines make for easy loading of the cardboard bottoms/lids and so enable long loading cycles.
  • Careful handling of cardboard bottoms/lids.
  • The feeding system of bottoms/lids has been designed for various bottom/lid materials.
  • The exact positioning of the bottoms/lids in each workstation guarantees accurate sealing without misalignment.
  • The cans are precisely centred in each station.
  • Slightly deformed cans are calibrated and get back their proper shape.
  • Each sealing tool is fitted with two controlled heating systems.
  • The sealing temperatures remain constant during the production process.
  • Good adaptation to different combinations of material and sealing media.
  • The central height adjustment system is used to reset the machine to other can heights without having to replace any parts.
  • The sealing-tools are fitted with a quick-change system.
  • A permanently preheated spare tool allows for quick replacement and ensures short downtimes. It also enables the tools to be cleaned away from the machine.
  • The machine comes with all the usual process-control features which prevent sealing from being carried out if the cardboard bottom/lid or can is missing.
  • All the covers on the machine can be tailored to customers’ requirements. For example, gas-tight versions are available in case inert gases are used.
  • Easy and space saving module extension to implement other technologies, e.g. filling operations.
  • Easy changeover to other can sizes.
  • The machine can be optionally supplied with two different built-in tool sets.
